In the film “The Soong Sisters”, there are four sets of scenes that are worth pondering, those are Chiang Kai-Shek reading the Bible while purging the KMT. The visual effect caused by the strong contrast of those scenes is extremely shocking. This paper takes those scenes as the objects, and mainly inspects the following two aspects:
Firstly, combining with the social and historical background at that time and the context of the original Bible, this paper analyzes the social information conveyed by those scenes. The result is that Chiang Kai-shek regards Christian belief as the shield of revolution, and by giving Christianity the nature of “revolution”, he puts on the armor of justice for his purging the KMT, which is the embodiment of the essence of Chiang Kai-shek’s pseudo Christian belief.
Secondly, this paper studies the essence of Chiang Kai-shek’s religious belief. It is found that Chiang Kai-shek is actually a multi religious believer, and his belief has a strong utilitarian nature.
