The Joseon Wangjo Sillok (朝鮮王朝實錄, The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty) is a historical book that records 472 years of Joseon dynasty. When The Joseon Wangjo Sillok was compiled, it was published several volumes and was distributed and kept in the several “Sago (史庫, archives that were built expressly for Sillok)”. The special ceremony of “Bongan (奉安,enshrinement)” was performed when the Sillok was stored in the Sago. In the 17th century, the Sago system of the present time was established, and the compilation of the Sillok became too important in strengthening royal authority after the two wars following the Japanese and the Manchu invasions. Therefore, it is believed that the Bongan ceremony was used to store the Sillok in the Sago and was performed with dignity. According to the Sillok-cheong-uigwe, the government officials from “Chong-jae-gwan (總裁官)”, “Dang-sang (堂上)”, “Nang-chung (郎廳)” are believed to have worn the “Heuk-danryeong (黑團領)” at the Chun-chu-gwan Bongansik. In addition, the “Damji-gun (擔持軍, a soldier who put on the colored palanquin for to carry Sillok)” is assumed to have worn the “Heuk-geonbok (黑巾服)” or “Geonbok (巾服)”. The military band and honor guard are seen as having worn the “Jeon-geon (戰巾)” and “Ho-ui (號衣)”.
