Yuchuxinzhi(虞初新志), edited by Zhang Zhao(張潮) in early Qing Dynasty, is a collection of stories in classical Chinese. Yuchuxinzhi is not a simple story collection, which included a lot of biographical literary works. There are a lot of biography about madmen and protagonists with incomplete bodies. These works reflect the thinking of intellectuals in the end of the Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, involving their complicated mentality of doing things, their attention to the lower levels of society, their awareness conflicts between morals and emotions and their open minds of stressing art and skills. Also the artistic state of seeking for the latest and superior shows the diversity of biography styles. Among the works that combine ethics morality and marvelousness, there are many works that reveal the loyalty, filial piety, clause, and righteousness of animals. These works represent the feelings of the writers who were not able to go through the expression of being better animals than people. There are many works that depict violent scenes, the grotesque violent expression reflect the strict self-critical sentiments of the intellectuals.
