This study pays attention to how the constraints of research facilities are being addressed by the Alvaro Siza while retaining his architectural characteristics. The purpose of this study is to look specifically at how Siza’s architectural intentions are being implemented, focusing on the Misium Center. Siza intends to completely separate the space according to its function. In the Misium center, the research space and support space were separated horizontally. Based on the module, the research space was intended to be efficient in the use of research equipment and collection, while restaurants, conference rooms, lobby, and entrance halls were intended to be diverse in size and composition. In particular, the hall and lobby show a number of characteristics shown in previous museums. The section of the research institute floated all floors on the ground with piloti, and the lower parts are treated with landscape, treating it as a dramatic space of artificial and natural using natural light from the upper part. Siza recognized the site as an object for the existence of architecture, extending the eastern site to the lower part of the building. As a result, Misium center is to create a natural rotating line around the middle of the low-rise, and to use the double ceiling for various experiences of light and direction.
