Dance Self-Regulation Test (DSRT) (Han & Yoo, 2008a) consists of thirteen sub-scales: problem recognition, task orientation, goal setting, self-confidence, value, help seeking, eating control, time management, music comprehension, practice volition, injury management, recognition evaluation, and emotion regulation. Using the scales, DSRT measures self-regulation process and strategies for a successful dance performance. To see if the DSRT can be administered to both male and female dancers equally, multi-group confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation model was used(n = 677). Also, in order to verify if there is any difference in self-regulation based on gender, latent means analysis was used. As a result, it was found that sub-scale factors of self-regulation were equally suitable for both male and female, which confirmed configural invariance. As factor coefficients and intercepts were invariant, metric invariance and scalar invariance were confirmed as well. Therefore, it was concluded that the DSRT could be equally used for both male and female dancers. Also, as a result of latent means analysis using male group as a reference, female dancers scored significantly higher than male dancers in task orientation, self-confidence, value, and emotion regulation. The effect size was medium, which has substantial meaning. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in help-seeking, eating control, and time management. This study has significant value in that it confirmed the possible use of the DSRT for both male and female dancers.
