This paper was studied about the possibility of environmental regulation through insurance as a method to control environmental problems. It should be taken long time and huge money to recover from the destroyed environment. So the insurance system is carefully considered to use as a way to protect and preserve environment. In America, the insurance system was introduced to environmental risk fields and it has being played a big role to protect and preserve environment. So I would examine the functions of environmental insurance and the possibility of environmental regulation in this paper. I would like to get good points from the study of this system, and introduce this system into Korea. This paper was dealt with the environmental insurance and its functions, the possibility of environmental regulation through insurance, etc.
