Betulin, a pentacyclic triterpenoid isolated fromthe bark of Betula papyrifera. Laboratory synthesized structuralanalogs were tested for antiviral activities against Epstein-BarrVirus (EBV) by immunofluorescent antiviral assay. Among theseveral analogs tested, betulin 3,28-diphosphate and uvaolexhibited significant antiviral activities against EBV. The EC50of betulin 3,28-diphosphate and uvaol was found to be0.6 μM and 0.7 μM, respectively.
