This paper investigates regional financial markets and proposes policy alternatives rejuvenating a regional financial intermediaries in Daejeon-Chungnam areas. First, the regional financial intermediaries should be specialized in the way that their banking activities support the regional industries which would in turn serve as the grow opportunities for them in the future. The public role of financial intermediaries for financial supporting to small and medium enterprises should be strengthened. Second, they should take an initiative in community development, regional incubation banking, enhancing the credit guarantee system and making out plans for joint investment. Third, cooperation among the regional financial intermediaries should be enforced, and they should enhance competitiveness by reinforcing relationship banking, local community based specialization strategies and nurturing professional human resources.
