Studies have generally revealed a positive association between criminal behavior and alcohol use. An important aspect of this association has been the degree to which violent crime are linked to the use of alcohol. This study examines perpetrator/victim alcohol use and violent crime. Court trial records were used. It analysed 374 male violent offenders. Acohol use in violent crime shows inverse relationships with age. Those who had prior violent criminal records were more related to drinking at the time of the violent crime. This finding suggests that the aggression- arousing role of intoxication depends on the alcohol consumer's baseline level of aggression. And this study shows that violence between strangers was more related to drinking. Also, perpetrators under the influence of alcohol were more likely to trigger aggressive behavior.
