Relics of the Neukdo island is a large-scale remain in Proto-three kingdoms Era, which have been existed between Southern island and Sacheon. Since ancient, a sea area near the Neukdo island has been used as an ocean route. A shell mounds, dwelling sites, pits, and graves were excavated through several large-scale excavation from 1985 to 2003. Potteries and bronze, iron, bone instruments have been excavated in the Neuk island. Especially, there have been various relics from Nakrang, Han, Japan as well. The main period of relics in the Neukdo island is from 1 B.C to 1 A.D, and there was a sudden decline after 2 A.D. A formative period of the excavated relics in the Neukdo island related with establishment of Nakrang-Gun and Iron culture of Byun-Jin. To import advanced civilization from Nakrang and iron from Byun-Jin, culture of the Neukdo island - located between Southern coast and cross channel of Korea and Japan - was prosperous through frequent communication between local community and Japanese people. According to the growth of political power in Goseong area and to the change of internal & external conditions, it is assumed that the culture of the Neukdo island was suddenly declined because the function was transferred to the Dongwoe-Dong.
