The thesis studied the method that the enlightening planner called women as the nation during the modern enlightened times in Korea centering arund The Daily News((18981899)(일신문). The enlightened subjects mapped out the modern nation on the basis of family. They approved the good mother and housewife as the nation. Actually that is the transformation of premodern ideology of the wise mother and good wife. The women couldn’t still free themselves from the secondary and functional standing during the enlightening period to modern times. The discourse connected with women during the early modern period was mostly about the married women. Therefore we confirm the fact that the truth of womennation is the modern wise mother and good wife. The newspapers and newnovels in the modern enlightened times offered the effective means in order to represent the modern nation. The lead article of the early modern newspapers was utilized the contrivance that the enlightened subjects directly propagated the modern discourse. The concrete events were stationed on the general article. The newspapers in early modern times propagated the modern valuese making of this kind of arrangement.This study especially took notice of the general article in The Daily News. The enlightened subjects during the early modern period excluded the opposite of the enlightened and modern women. However the prodigal women who couldn’t included the nation disturbed enlightenment, obstructed the identity of the nation. We confirm the distribution of the nation and affirm the variety of women in the enlightening period to modern times through the outside women of the nation.
