The carved letters on the woodblock-printed has its origin in the letters written clearly by the calligraphist. The calligraphist writes the letters in easy and mellowed style, just like in the square style. The shape of the letters written by the calligraphist is changed just a little through the operation of carving, whether by design or by accident. So the letters originated by the carving-man differs a little from the letters originated by the calligraphist. The calligraphist makes the well written version for registration in the cursive style of writing, in the correspondence style of writing or in the printed style of writing. The carving-man carves the letters in a turned-inside-out situation of the version. By this reason, the miscaved letters is coming out on the woodblock-printed. The well written version for registration of Seoul block prints, which were published around Seoul area in the figure of the woodblock-printed, is usually written in the cursive style of writing or the correspondence style of writing. So the Reader makes misreading the letters of Seoul block prints occasionally. Here I makes some examination on these : a) the difference between the letters written by the calligraphist and the letters carved by the carving-man. b) the variation of the carved letters ‘a(ㅏ)’. c) the reasons of the variation d) the misreading of the character carved in the cursive style of writing or in the correspondence style of writing. e) the traces of the stems used in a character, f) the traces of the stems used between the above character and the below character. In conformity with these examinations, the Readers' misreading of the character is caused by the traces from the last stem of the above character to the first stem of the below character, and by the strokes of the vertical stem which looks like the half-horizontal stem.
