This treatise aims to uncover the plagiarized parts by M. M. Bakhtin from the works of Ernst Cassirer. The fact that Bakhtin plagiarized the works of Ernst Cassirer has been ignored anyway in the academic circle in Korea. But the theme was popular in the western and japan academics. It seems that M. M. Bakhtin plagiarized the parts of the works of E. Cassirer without adequate quotation or attributed the context shown in the works of E. Cassirer to the other parts in the works of M. M. Bakhtin. In doing so, M. M. Bakhtin applied the concept, 'breakdown of the hierarchial worldview in the medieval world to the his major work about Rabelais as well as to the other his works. The problem is whether Bakhtin plagiarized the key conception available to his carnival theory, his understanding of cosmos or not. And furthermore, M. M. Bakhtin borrowed some of concepts to develop his ideas such as relativity, time, humor, polyphony etc. This is not a evident or intentional plagiarization but an adoption or adaptation as Brian Poole says.I think that Bakhtin made a creative acception of the several ideas of Cassirer or Cusanus and Shafesbury about which Cassirer mentions in his main works and furthermore enlarged it.
