In this paper, I discuss two historical changes that took place in the wh- quantification paradigm in Korean. The first change, which is empirically attested, is that wh-words like nwukwu changed from exclusively interrogative pronouns to the current use as indefinite pronouns whose Q-force can be determined by the Q they are associated with. Another change I argue to have taken place is the reanalysis of various Q-morphemes from C to non-C elements, which can be identified as delimiters. In this paper, I show how the two seemingly independent historical changes could have been closely interrelated. My claim is that it is the second change, more specifically, reanalysis of nka from an interrogative C to an existential Q that triggered the first change. I also discuss how a diachronic perspective gained from studying the historical changes could shed light on certain puzzling properties about the locality of interrogative and non-interrogative wh- constructions in Korean.
