In this article I investigate the non-occurrence of structural case particles both in argument and non-argument nominals in Korean. I show that besides left-dislocated nominals as discussed in Ahn&Cho (2006), there are cases where a subject is allowed without a nominative case particle. This means that there is no subject-object asymmetry regarding the non-occurrence of case particles, contra Hong (1994). Slightly modifying Kim's (1999) generalization on this issue, I claim that argument nominals in situ are allowed with or without a case particle, while they must bear the particle in derived positions. Also taking non-argument nominals into consideration, however, I finally claim that the overall generalization needs to be described in terms of Case licensing domain, which is that case particles are optional for the nominals inside the domain, while they are obligatory for the ones outside the domain.
