This research examines the relationship between racial residential segregation and housing characteristics in the Dallas-Arlington-Ft. Worth metropolitan area in Texas using data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Brown University. Ethnic group growth and expansion that speed up racial residential segregation relates to the housing characteristics in the North Texas of US Sunbelt area. Racial residential segregation, as discovered and debated in the literature showed to require an suitable full range of observed data to profoundly or fully know the relationship between residential segregation index and the metropolitan cities’ housing variables between 2000 and 2010, using a cross-sectional data set from Census Bureau 2000-2010 in the Dallas- Arlington-Ft. Worth metropolitan statistical areas(MSAs). Those findings are as follows: the high White-Black and Hispanic-Asian racial residential segregation between 2000 and 2010 decreases the Growth Rate of Housing unit with the negative coefficient. On the other hand, the high White-Asian racial residential segregation increases the rate of growth of housing unit in the 54 Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan cities. The White-Hispanic, Black-Hispanic, and Black-Asian racial residential segregation do not affect the rate of growth of housing unit in the 54 Dallas-Fort Worth- Arlington metropolitan cities. The high White-Hispanic and Black-Hispanic racial residential segregation between 2000 and 2010 decrease the rate of growth of median housing value. The White-Black, White-Asian, Black-Asian, and Hispanic-Asian racial residential segregation do not affect the rate of growth of median housing value in the 54 Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan cities. Also, all parameters do not affect the rate of growth of home-ownership and the change rate of gross rent fee in the 54 Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan cities. The results should be concurrently reflected by public housing policy makers or planners as they are able to solve racial residential segregation conflicts in US metropolitan areas.
