The purpose of this paper is to attempt a rethinking of crack cocaine abuse in British Society. Before starting this paper, I would like to introduce the stories of crack cocaine. Derived from the coca shrub, cocaine has a long history in Britain. It can be traced back to as early as the 1880s, when coca based products could be purchased from a wide rage of outlets without restriction. The latest concern regarding cocaine is from its derivative crack. This cocaine derivative has been linked to crime and even more contentious to Asian people in Britain’s inner cities. There has been an increasing wave of drug crimes and non-drug crime. The paper is aimed at dispelling the myth that crack is a Asian problem. SectionⅡwould discuss the origins of cocaine and the legislation introduced to control its use and distribution in the Britain. SectionⅢ would look more closely at crack cocaine and its potential for creating dependency. Attention would also be paid to the notion of dependency central to its construction. And then I would focus on the misleading reporting which has resulted in moral panic. It would zero in on the difficulties that arise in attempting to estimate the prevalence of crack cocaine. SectionⅣ would look at both Asian crack problems and the services available, those who have accessed them and how services can be made more inviting for those who are not using the service on offer and also the British police, Humberside Police, responses and strategies against ethnic community’s drugs problem. Over all the aim of this paper is to understand problems of Crack Cocaine Abuse in the British society through this paper.
