This paper focuses on the effects of industry-specific foreign direct investment onintra-industry trade patterns. In order to achieve the research objectives, the hypotheses that FDI impacts onintra-industry trade levels will be relatively small in the industries which have comparativeadvantage and relatively low export share are introduced in this study. And panel empiricalanalysis is performed for these two hypotheses. Results of the study implied that FDI in Korean industries should be concentrated on thecomparative disadvantage and relatively high export share industries in the future. In addition, further studies are required to complement some limitations such as technicalproblems of intra-industry classification, controversy about the effect of FDI that may arisefrom this study.
