지역사회획득 메티실린내성 황색포도알균(Community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, CA-MRSA)
은 지난 10년 전부터 전세계적으로 공중보건에 심각한 위협이 되고 있다. 저자들은 Panton-Valentine leukocidin 독소
유전자가 없으면서 USA 300 클론이 아닌 CA-MRSA에 의한 감염성 심내막염으로 사망한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하
고자 한다. 본 증례는 국내에서 가장 흔한 CA-MRSA 클론의 하나이면서도 위중한 감염의 원인으로 거의 알려지지
않았던 sequence type 72 클론에 의한 치명적인 감염 증례이다.
