The purpose of this study was to explore the differences generativity and psychological well-being by religion and group such as child rearer and volunteer. Another purpose was to investigate the relation of generativity and psychological well-being by child rearer and volunteer. The subjects were 315 old over 60 aged women who were currently participating in social activities and were interviewed by structured questionnaire. The instruments for this study were 'Loyola generativity scale(McAdams & de St. Aubin, 1992)', 'Psychological well-being(Ryff, 1989)'. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t test, Pearson’s correlation. The main results of this study are as follows: Firstly, generativity and psychological well-being of the elderly women having religion were higher than those who did not have religion. Secondly, generativity and psychological well-being of volunteers were higher than those of child rearer. Lastly, child rearer and volunteer’ generativity were positively related with psychological well-being. Thorough this study, it was rediscovered that religion and generativity contributed to the elderly’s mental health. On the basis of these results, various interventions were recommended. Namely, the importance of religion should be emphasized in old age. Also, the role of generativity will be developed in this process. Finally, these activities can lead religious people to productive human capital.
