This paper explores a possibility to partake of Jesus’ mystic experience delineated in the Lord’s Prayer in the gospel of Matthew, mainly from the perspectives of primal repertoire in Jewish wisdom corpus as Proverbs, Job, Qoheleth, Sirach, Wisdom of Solomon, Qumran scrolls, and some pseudepigrapha, which must have had great impacts on the gospel formation, particularly in calling God as Father and understanding the life and death of Jesus. Jesus’ experience of rejection is understood as wisdom revelation, meaningful for the Matthean community as wandering preachers to legitimize their painful identity, in which Jesus’ mystical experience is characterized by two significant realms of the Lord’s Prayer; That is, total commitment to the Father by emptying himself upward in the first half, and, at the same time, solidarity with the human world downward in the second half, both of which are respectively executed by Jesus’ life and death. In this way, the Lord’s Prayer invites us to renounce dreams of omnipotence and instead proposes an answerable engagement for the liberation, not the consolation, of those who are oppressed by hunger, hatred, and distrust. Focusing on Jesus’ mystical experience in Abba Father, his disciples also could execute such a duty by their own mystic, intuitive, and immediate experiences with their self-denunciation and solidarity with the world.
