The Analysis of Synonymy and Hyponymy which Connected with "melihat’ Im Young-Ho (Woosong University) This article aims to describe the hierarchy relation, such as synonym and hyponym in Bahasa Indonesia, especially the word ‘melihat’ (to see) as a sense of sight. Since the examples used in the hyponymy contain words related to the sense of sight, the relation that is being studied here is the relation between the verbs. This limitation toward the word ‘melihat’ is meant to describe a lexical hierarchy of a particular area of meaning. Through this area of meaning, with all its word classes, a complex lexical hierarchy can be drawn so that the similarities and differences of its semantic components would be obvious The relations of meaning described in a textbook are usually only synonymy and antonymy. However, the study of synonymy is sometimes confused with that of hyponymy. Here hyponymy is necessary in order to understand the clear sense and the appropriate use of a word for inter-synonyms communication. In fact, the inter-synonym relations of meaning cannot be differentiated without knowing the hyponym of inter-words.
