The “concept” had become one of the hottest philosophical issues in the Middle Warring States period. To what extent a concept can be determined, the relation between the concept and its referent, and the relation between apprehension and things, these issues are prominent in the discussion of the “concept”. Han scholars call the “mingjia” those who deeply involved in these philosophical issues. Hui Shi(惠施 B.C.E 370~310) can be regarded the representative of the mingjia, and this paper is about him. Scholars generally agree that the most outstanding characteristic in the philosophy of Hui Shi is “hetongyi(合同異)”. There are, however, two points that need further studies. One is that the meaning of “hetongyi” has not been firmly established. The other is that there is not a single study that shows clearly how “hetongyi” can be inferred from Hui Shi's philosophy. This study aims to solve these two problems. For this purpose, I give commentaries to the contents of “the ten doctrines of tabulating things(歷物十事)” - the only extant primary material concerning Hui Shi's philosophy - item by item, which is organized according to my own interpretation. This enables me to give answers to the above issues and to interpret the last proposition of “the ten doctrines of tabulating things" based on the understanding of overall Hui Shi's philosophy as well.
