The aim of this paper is to investigate the process of modernization of Japanese Buddhism in Colonial Korea. Roles of Japanese religions in imperial era were to support a colonial policies of government and to help to reform spiritually people in a colony. We have studied on the focus of the role of Japanese religion in colonized regions because an important role of Japanese religions was to reform spiritually Korean particularly in imperial era. To be concrete, there are some studies on roles of Japanese religion that have focused on its influence on Korean in colonized. And the other hand, there are some studies that have focused on the suppression from Japanese religion and Korean resistance against that. In this paper, I am concerned about the action of Japanese religion in a colony as the process of modernization of Japanese religion. And I choose the action of Sangyō Bu(the department of industrial) in Kōzyō Kaikan as a casework, which was an important social work of Shinshū Ōtaniha which is the Japanese Buddhism, and investigate the content of it as a social work and the movement of Korean in it. Consequently I will confirm the modernity of Japanese religion in Korea colonized by Japan through these works.
