The purpose of this paper is to analyze the story structure of the Oseam Legend and the Oseam in fairy story, film, TV drama and animation based on discourse. In particular, this study has attempted to determine how the story differs by genre and media from the perspective of ‘differentiation.’ Specifically, Oseam has been reproduced based on the following procedures: ‘① Legend → fairy story → Animation,’ ‘② Legend → fairy story → Movie,’ ‘③ Legend → fairy story → Drama.’ Therefore, it can be said that TV drama, animation and movie are others pieces of work based on the fairy story. This kind of continuous creation-change-mutation process is the nature of this story. The story structure differs respectively among the fairy story, movie, TV drama and animation that originated from the Oseam legend. First, in the legend Oseam, the search for truth and charity are emphasized while siblinghood, the non-discriminatory innocence of a child and longing for motherhood are the focus in the fairy story. Cruelty and loss of humanity in reality and the criticism of and possibility for solving social violence are the primary themes of the movie. In the TV drama and animation, on the contrary, seeking after truth and longing for maternity were emphasized, respectively. These differences can be seen as the communication of desire through a story or as the desire to communicate a story. In addition, this desire could be understood as communication to resist suppressive power by a writer or director based on the intrinsic nature of the desire that constantly tries to shrug off all constraints.
