Reconceptualization of Literature Based Korean Language EducationKim, Sang-WookThere are so many discussions about New Curriculum of Korean language education. The model suggested by KICE(Korean Institu of Curriculum and Evaluation) is sustained existing frames, but basically based on the behaviourism and functionalism. It is the products of researcher's immature action. Through the critical awareness about this issues, this monograph would like to retrospect the Korean language competence, to explore the reconceptualization of literature based korean language education.The concept of Korean language competence is corresponded with the literacy. The controversy about liteacy was proceding, but its result come to the balanced curriculum between skill based instruction and whole language practice. As the Vygotsky's opinion, the study is accomplished by the active practice in community. Specially, the literatue based instruction is related with the new paradime about education, the view of human development, the whole language practice of reading/writing. The literature based instructions composed of various activitis, for example, reading aloud, guided reading, individual reading, book talking, and discussion, are the best method for the reconceptualization of korean language education. On this study, I have inspected the possibility of concrete application by the case study, two teachers experiences, about the significance of literature based korean language education.
