The general aim of teaching Arabic language to Korean students is “achievement of communicative competence in Arabic and understanding Arab culture”. Arabic newspapers issued in the Arab countries do not only provide with linguistically authentic materials, but also convey major interests of Arabs and their current events. This means that Arabic newspapers may be one of the useful teaching materials in Arabic language classrooms. This research aims to highlight the usefulness of Arabic newspaper materials in teaching beginners of Arabic on the condition that teachers select them carefully and design the tasks appropriate to students’ language levels. Especially, it suggests four methods to present Arabic newspaper materials to Korean beginners of Arabic – advance preparation of activities, careful selection of materials, precise planning of tasks and recirculation of materials. Lastly, this research aims also to present several examples for teaching Arabic using materials of Arabic newspapers such as headlines, hard news, photos and captions, advertisements and caricatures taken from Arabic newspapers.
