As the representative of East Asian traditional thoughts, Zhu Xi`s Thought and Yangming`s Thought have differences, but they have something in common as Neo-Confucianism. Since China was faced with a cultural crisis by getting invasions of foreign countries, Zhu Xi`s Thought and Yangming`s Thought were selected as the representative traditional thoughts to fight against Western culture. Zhu Xi`s Thought was significant and influential because it was historically highly reputed as a national school, but it had a weak point of a conservative political ideology. On the other hand, Yangming`s Thought has attracted attention from modern Neo-Confucianists since it is against a national school. Therefore, their characteristics are compared with Western thoughts including organic cosmology, philosophy of life, phenomenology, mystical religious experiences and subjective idealism, or spiritualism. However, as the pursuit of knowledge and self-discipline, or knowledge learning and morality nourishment should be traditionally conducted together, it is clear that Zhu Xi`s Thought and Yangming`s Thought should be considered together in terms of moral training and ethical practice. Focusing this point on religious experiences and restoration of moral consciousness which are the strengths of Yangming`s Thought, they will be studied in comparison with the Process Philosophy of A.N. Whitehead. Process Philosophy, which is different from theism of Christianity, claims that, in general, if religion is not criticized by metaphysics, it will decay. Considering this, Neo-Confucianism of East Asia can contribute to development of the future, when strengthening advantages of and supplementing Zhu Xi`s Thought and Yangming`s Thought.
