Recently, perception about kitchen space is changing diversely. Kitchen furniture is changing into a multifunctional space with changes in its structure and expansion into various lifestyles, and its importance as a space where family members can communicate with each other is becoming larger However, the kitchen space of the apartment which occupies more than 60% of the residence type does not reflect the variety of lifestyle and family changes as they are urgent to solve the limitation and public aspect in the architectural plan of collectivity. In addition, apartments in Seoul that have aged more than 20 years are over 78% and need remodeling. Through a meaning research which will be the basis of the planned remodeling kitchen plan, we strive to grasp the correlation of which components meet the user’s requirements.
In this research, 4 research problems were established. The scope of the survey was n = 233 among the housing users living in Korea. The research method was conducted through an online-survey by considering previous researched and documents.
Based on the results, the respondents" general preferences about the furniture and facilities in the kitchen space were examined in general. Satisfaction factor was composed of factor of five dimension and reliability was secured. Based on this, Pearson"s correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to examine the relationship and influence of these factors on the preference of these classified factors.
The results of this research are as follows. First, it is important to investigate the comprehensive and profound state of the consumer’s furniture structure with various lifestyle and residential spaces. In other words, we have explored the furniture and facilities of the consumers" preferred kitchen space, and confirmed the practical significance by examining the factors influencing the future preference and the present satisfaction. Future research will explore how demographic factors, as well as various other variables, influence future preferences and current satisfaction of kitchen furniture and facilities.
