This study was intended primarily to analyze the factors affecting the employment of persons with disabilities from the perspective of firms, and based on that, derive policy implications for promotion of the employment of persons with disabilities.
Independent variables, which were expected to affect the employment of persons with disabilities, were divided into organization characteristics factors, personnel and labor management factor, working environment factor, factor related to awareness of employment of persons with disabilities, and policy system factor by referring to the theories and preceding studies associated with employment of persons with disabilities in order to validate hypotheses which were established on the basis of aforesaid research issues.
Based on the derived factors, analysis was conducted using the in-depth data obtained from the ‘Survey on Employment of persons with disabilities in firms in 2014’, The collected data were processed for descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and logistics regression analysis.
Logistics regression analysis was performed based on scale of firms which were divided into large-sized firms, medium-sized firms, and small-sized firms considering the fact that current policy for employment of persons with disabilities was applied differentially to firms based on size.
The factors affecting the firm employment of persons with disabilities varies according to the size of the firm. In the case of medium-sized firms and small-sized firms, almost all factors were found to affect the employment of the disabled. However, in the case of large-sized companies, only the work characteristics and awareness toward employment of persons with disabilities have a significant effect on the employment of the disabled.
Based on the results of this study, we propose social welfare policy and practical measures for employment of persons with disabilities.
