The purpose of this study is to describe the definition and subtype classification of emotion verbs, which is a kind of Korean emotional vocabulary, and to describe its syntactic and semantic characteristics. In this study, we examined the definition of emotion verbs and divided the emotion verbs into subtypes according to their characteristics.
Emotion verbs express a subjective psychological state through the internal experience of the agent of emotion. Since the emotion verbs presuppose the agent of emotion, it can be classified according to who the agent of emotion is. Since the syntactic and semantic characteristics of emotional verbs vary according to who is the agent of emotion, emotional verbs are divided into two categories of speaker-centered emotional verbs expressing the emotions of the speakers and subject-oriented emotional verbs expressing the emotions of the subjects.
The syntactic and semantic characteristics of emotional verbs in this paper can help to confirm the concept and outline of emotional verbs. The results of this study will be able to establish objective data that can be used in the field of linguistic informatics such as big data analysis and ontology construction by confirming the outline of emotion verbs.
