In this essay I try to discuss Taiwanese mounting in the period of Japanese occupation(1895~1945) and the pattern of communication and its significance within East-Asia, in order to endure a proper position with Taiwanese mounting in the development of cultural communication in East Asia. Taiwan is located in the southern point of East Asia. With the relationships of Chinese immigrant and Japanese colonial, Taiwanese mounting is profoundly inf luenced by China and Japan. There are two turning points in Taiwanese modern history: Japanese colonial in 1895 and KMT’s restoration of Taiwan in 1945. In the brief fifty years, Taiwan had experienced twice the great alterations in the modern history of East-Asia. In the essay I compare Taiwanese mounting between the period of Japanese colonial and the early days of KMT’s restoration of Taiwan, and I discover the obvious change of Taiwanese mounting both in the form and the significance in the different political atmosphere. Political factors often inf luence the development of culture, thus, Taiwanese mounting could be an invisible political language that symbolizes the changing of era.
