The purposes of this study were to investigate the process of preparation for the retirement, to survey the need of leisure after retirement, to survey the plan of leisure activities after retirement, and to get the basic data to develop the leisure education programs which are available to preparing life after retirement for aged teachers. The results were found by the following method. Survey method using questionnaire was adopted. 248 teachers who are 55years old and over answered about their attitudes and activities for leisure and preparing their retirement. Frequency analysis method was adopted to analyze the attitude and activities of leisure according to gender and the remaining years before retirement. According to the theoretical background and the results, and discussions in this study, the following conclusions are drawn. First, most of the aged teachers took a desirable view of life and leisure. They recognized the importances of leisure and preparation for retirement. Second, the aged teacher did not know how to design of retired life including leisure and economic life. This result implies that educational institution and government should invest the development of education for aged teachers. In conclusion successful adaptation of aged teachers retirement and satisfaction with the aged life can be obtained by the practical and effective pre retirement education.
