During several years, many kind of exercises for the health have become a popular in Korea. The effects of exercise and the rate of progress achieved depend on haw correctly the exercise are performed and on the understanding of physiological control over their own bodies by the exercisers. In aerobic dance for the health, people have to prevent occurring injuries and should recognize the particularities and the importance of this type of exercise as order to obtain a beneficial effect and explore the most effective methods. This can be done once the basic principles of aerobic dance have been perfectly understood. Aerobic dance has been used as the most popular exercise for women to keep a good health in Korea. It has been reported that aerobic dance makes not only a good health but also the injury if used not correctly. Because one may have a different function of body and may require a different program. So, the intensity of exercise, the frequence of practice, and the duration of exercise should be considered to improve fitness. This idea brings us to find the relationships between possible causes and the injury. Therefore, the purpose of study is to determine whether significant difference existed between the injury and the different surfaces, shoes, teaching methods and reasons. PROCEDURE 1. Subject : 352 persons from nine different groups in Seoul were randomly selected for this study. The distribution of the subject is shown in Table 1. 2. Method : The researcher prepared 15 questions for the injuries of ankle, knee and tower back, the exercise place, the shoes which is worn during exercise, the teaching methods how they learn, the reasons for doing aerobic dance, the experience of doing aerobic dance, and others. From Feb. 15th to May 16th, the investigators had surveyed the subject with the questionnaires. 3. Statistic : Chi-Square Test has been used for this study and the 0.05 level of significance was set. CONCLUSIONS 1. There was a significant difference in the number of Injury between wood surface and other surfaces. The persons who exercised on wood floor had les injured than persons on other surfaces. 2. There was no significant difference in the number of injured among wearing sport shoes, dancing shoes and others. 3. There was no significant difference in the number of injured among the different teaching methods. But, the teaching method with the same intensity caused less injury than with the informal way. 4. There was a significant difference in the number of injured among the reasons to do aerobic dance. The reasons for the control of weight and for a health caused more injury than the reasons for a recreation and for the stimulation of blood circulation. 5. The frequency of exercise is related with the injury. The more practices, the more injury happens. 6. It is recommended that one should check his/her body condition before starts his/her program. Without it, the injury may happen more than with it. 7. In additional conclusion, one should recognize the right principle of exercise based on the Physical fitness, not on the technique or interest of the dance.
