This study aims to examine the socioeconomic effectiveness of senior job and social activities programs(hereinafter referred to as the senior job program) through cost benefit analysis. The socioeconomic effectiveness of the senior job program were calculated based on the costs and benefits that occurred during the year of 2016, and sub-programs which included in analysis were limited to public-service activities and market-based business activities. The cost of the senior job program is mainly composed of items in the financial accounting, and the benefit is divided into the participants, the community, and the whole society. The data for the cost-benefit analysis were the internal and statistical data of the senior job program, internal data of National Health Insurance Service, employment survey data and so on. As a result, the annual net benefit value for the senior job program was 13,907,165,643 won, and the benefit-cost ratio was 1.66. The benefit-cost ratio of public-service activities was 1.79 and the market-based business activities was 1.24. The monthly net benefit value per new participant was 109,089 won, and the benefit-cost ratio was 1.67. According to activity types, the net benefit value per person per month engaged in public-service activities was 313,224 won, and the benefit-cost ratio was 3.01. On the other hand, the average monthly net benefit value per person in the market-based business activities was 50,545 won and the benefit-cost ratio was 1.24. Based on these results, we suggested a policy proposal to sustain the socioeconomic effectiveness of the senior job program and proposed limitations of the study and follow-up study.
