The purpose of this study is to investigate effect of difference in isokinetic hamstring/quadriceps strength ratio on the static and dynamic balance in college ssireum athletes. The subjects were 12 college ssireum athletes and the group was divided into two groups : group with 50% or more of the hamstring/quadriceps strength ratio (H:Q ratio, n=6) and group with 50% less of H:Q ratio (n=6) H:Q ratio was decided after the isokinetic knee extension / flexion test at 60°/sec. Balance was measured by static balance and dynamic balance measurement method, and all subjects measured the shoe while wearing and naked. As a result, Static balance showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups when wearing shoes or naked, but dynamic balance showed significant difference between overall stability index and posterior stability index with naked shoes. Therefore, these results are important data showing that the muscle strength ratio of quadriceps and hamstring affect the dynamic balance of ssireum players. Especially, athlete with high H;Q ratio showed better dynamic balance in barefoot state than in a state of wearing shoes, which is an important index to suggest that win or loss of ssurum game may be affected by H:Q ratio. In the future training program for ssireum athletes, it is necessary to include a program to improve muscle strength of the hamstring with quadriceps muscle strength development and to evaluate the effect of training through periodic measurement of H:Q ratio.
