This study was carried out to assess factors that influence the use of customized dress among students in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. It identified the techniques used for designs and also examined how students in customized dress perceive themselves. Structured questionnaire was used to collect information from 210 respondents purposively selected. Data was collected and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that higher percentage of respondents were males (51.4%) with 44.3% between the ages of 19-22 years. Majority, (86.7%) practiced Christianity and 35.2% earned less than ₦10,000 monthly. The predominant factors that influenced the use of customized dress in the study area were styles (70%), and personality (58.1%). The choice of designs mostly used includes printing (65.7%) and embroidery (62.7%). Correlation analysis showed that there is significant relationship between the age (r = 0.259, p = 0.000) and the use of customized dress, although no significant relationship exists between the price of the clothing (r = -0.004, p = 0.952) and the use of the customized dress. It was recommended local fabrics be promoted and used for customization with creation of new designs that are appealing to people of different age groups.
