On January 16, 2016, the voting results of the 14th presidential election and the 9th legislative election were announced. Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won almost 60% of presidential votes and the majority of legislative seats. When the elected president Tsai, Ing-wen led the DPP supporters to celebrate the victory, I was moved with mixed feelings. I told my family that Taiwanese people finally stood up for their country. With the constantly open access to knowledge, Taiwanese people have been aware that it is important to conserve Taiwanese cultures. The localization movement starts to explore the nature of the self and emphasize the life and value on this land. Most importantly, Taiwanese consciousness and political statements are clearly constructed. However, if Taiwanese consciousness excludes cultural thoughts embedded with Chinese consciousness, the development of Taiwan itself may be considerably suppressed. Accordingly, to maintain the political pluralism in Taiwan is a strategy that needs to be taken into account. The study aims to explore the impact and prospect of the second party alternation on the national consciousness in Taiwan.
