The purpose of this study is to examine whether there are differences in the usage patterns of connective endings and conjunctive adverbs in spoken text, depending on the proficiency of Korean language of Chinese speakers, and their usage patterns are compared with Korean native speakers’ patterns. The study finds that (1) Chinese learners of Korean use connective endings more in variety as their proficiency goes up; (2) There is a significant difference between level 3-6 learners and Korean native speakers, between level 3 learners and level 4-6 learners, but no significant difference among level 4-6 learners in the frequency of usage in connective endings. It indicates that the connective cohesion is not realized well when using connective endings; (3) Chinese learners of Korean use conjunctive adverbs more in variety as their proficiency goes up; (4) There is no significant difference among level 4 learners, level 5 learners, Korean native speakers, but all of them show a significant difference from level 6 learners in the frequency of usage in conjunctive adverbs. It indicates that the frequency of usage of conjunctive adverbs of level 4-5 learners is similar to that of Korean native speakers, but level 6 learners overuse conjunctive adverbs.
