Elderly people are vulnerable to diseases due to impairment in mental and physical function. And when they get ill, it takes a long time to cure and recover. They are likely to get a chronic disease, showing strong tendency to get double diseases. If the illness of elderly people for becomes serious, they are likely to be the bed-confined aged with dementia disease and weakness, and it would be difficult for them to live without family, social protection and support. Health & Medical service can try to solve problems in many ways, but we propose the following ways for development. (1) A countermeasure for persons with dementia is useful with home care services. It`s effective in the light of the situation that there are more persons with mild dementia than the ones with severe dementia in Korea But the institutional care and geriatric hospital have to be made concurrently. (2) One of the Methods supporting the old people who live independently is that they can alway have medical examination and prosthetic appliance. (3) Old people should be able to get free medical examination and treatment expenses should be cut down, so that, if they get ill, they should be able to use it without too much economic burden. (4) Home care nurse system in Korea consists of home care nursing and health care nursing, which is under trial and error. We should try to integrate health, medical and welfare systems for overall efficiency.
