Many progress and developments have happened in the area of science and technology. Most of the times, the media highlighted the success stories of science and technology research development, mainly due to its importance to the mankind. Moreover, both developed and developing nations giving more focus on this type research compared to social science research in which causing a big challenge to the educationist and researchers in the area of social science to come out from the cocoon that dominated by science and technology research. Social science is a pivotal area of study which consist many areas that embedded into a man’s daily life. Ranging from education to culture that cut across every layer of mankind from birth till death. Social science reveals the on how the science and innovation works and quantum of its effect to users. The revelation of social science findings provides vital insights to develop better technology innovations in future. As the importance of social science research is growing day by day, the quantum of social science research in Malaysia is not encouraging. There are many factors such as availability and preference of funding, publication in indexed journals and supports from administration and government are the key factors that affect the growing pace of social science research in Malaysia. In this study, the challenges of a social science researcher and issues that pertaining towards the growth of social science study in the context of Malaysia were discussed. At the same time, recommendations to improve and bring a paradigm shift to the social science research in Malaysia also have been presented. A framework has been developed to strengthen the social science research in Malaysia and Asia in the future.
