The right to freedom from discrimination and the right to equal treatment in marriage is an internationally and nationally recognized human right enshrined in international instruments, declarations and recommendations as well as the Constitution of Uganda. Human rights based approach has evolved over years as a framework through which polygamy can be analyzed and it requires that the processes and responses to polygamy are guided by human rights principles such as participation, equality, non-discrimination and empowerment. This study therefore is set to investigate the impact of polygamous marriages on the realization of health rights with specific reference to sexual-reproductive rights in Uganda.
