This study is purposed for examining various types of integrated grammar test items for assessing grammar competence appropriately. For this purpose, 122 integrated grammar test items of 1994~2017 KSAT Language(Korean) and 2009~2017 NAEP Korean(middle/high school) have been analysed.
As a result, five types of integrated grammar items have been verified and also, some significant factors and issues about integrated grammar test items are verified as follows. Firstly, various tasks which grammar knowledge could be applied should be developed beyond rewriting tasks. Second, grammar test item considering grammar as meaning-creating repertoire should be developed systematically. Third, with using materials(its contents is related to language), reading test and grammar test should be integrated.
Based on these results, significant two directions for designing integrated grammar test items has been suggested. The one is focused into perspective which considering ‘grammar as meaning-creating repertoire’, the other is focused into ‘grammar exploring experience’ itself.
