This study investigated the impact of husband’s cooperation and satisfaction of childcare center on parenting guilt of mothers. The subjects of this study consisted of 248 mothers with children of under 36 months who were enrolled in childcare center in Seoul. Mothers rated a set of questionnaires including questions about parenting guilt, husband’s cooperation, sat isfaction of childcare center, and individual characteristics.
The results of this study showed that there were significant differences in parenting guilt according to their employment status and feeding method. Working mothers and mothers feeding formular to their children were likely to have more guilt in their parenting behavior. On the other hand, mother’s education level did not demonstrate significant differences in parent ing guilt. In addition, parenting guilt was influenced by husband’s cooperation, satisfaction of childcare center, and feeding methods. Husband’s cooperation was the strongest factor in reducing mothers’parenting guilt.
