The thorough and meticulous studies regarding the nowness and futureness of the Kingdom of God have sufficiently set forth in the tensional and macroscopic structure of “already, but not yet.” Yet even these studies have not been fully paid attention to how to connect the nowness with the futureness of the Kingdom of God in light of anthropological and eschatological perspective. The purpose of the present study is to fill up this kind of academic shortage. The filling work will be carried out in light of John Calvin’s Psychopannychia (1534). The thesis of this study is that the immortal and conscious human soul even before and after death, which is highlighted throughout Calvin’s Psychopannychia, can faithfully play as a “theological bridge” to connect the nowness(already) with the futureness(but not yet) of the Kingdom of God. Of course, it is somewhat unfit to say that the core idea of Calvin’s Psychopannychia is the Kingdom of God per se. For Psychopannychia is Calvin’s biblical answers to the problematic ideas of Calvin’s time such as annihilationism and a theory of soul sleep. However, through examining Psychopannychia, the clue of how to connect the nowness to futureness of the Kingdom of God can be found in light of anthropological and eschatological perspective.
