David Mamet is an indisputable member of the American dramatic canon. He not only still shows furious activity but also remains commercially enticing. Though he has described mainly the corrupt American society, suggesting the restoration of its members’ morality as a solution through his works, he has been reluctant to reveal his political position in the work. After the political conversion to conservatism in 2008, however, he began to reveal his political stance in his works. Around that time, with the election of President Obama, Post-racialism emerged as a new discourse on race in American society. His drama Race, which premiered on Broadway in 2009 with a production directed by Mamet himself, showed his recently proclaimed political perspectives on Post-racialism. This paper aims to summarize the concept of Post-racialism and examine how it is expressed in Race. In addition, through meticulous analysis of the text, this study aims to reveal how Post-racialism is manifested in four different characters with different positions. Furthermore, it investigates the responsibility of a writer who wants to discuss racism in spite of attacks on him as a white male writer.
