The purpose of this study was to investigate the athletes who overuses specific sports motion to measure Body Alignment and Balance Activity, specific to spine and pelvis deformation. This study used seventy-five basketball athletes that were divided into 5 groups (elementary, middle, high, university and pro levels) of 15 players each.
The Body Alignment measurement utilized high-tech equipments entitled Formetric 4D (Germany). This equipment showed ten data. In the Balance Activity two elements, Static and Dynamic were measured with the Calibration Measurement Device (Posturomed, Hyder, Germany) to test the Postural Sway Index.
The following data had compelling results. Body Alignment-significant differences in Trunk Length, Trunk Inclination, Pelvic Torsion, Lordotic, Kyphotic Angle, Surface Rotation(+max), and Lateral Deviation(+max)(p<.05). No difference in the Trunk Imbalance and Pelvic Tilt. Balance Activity-significant differences in both feet concerning the sum of wobbling towards X and Y axes of Static and Dynamic Balance. No difference showed in the Static Balance Activity for the high school level left foot. Middle and pro level had no difference on the left foot, university level had no difference for both feet in Dynamic. The association result explained that there is a significant connection between both feet for Static Balance Activity and Trunk Length. Also between Dynamic Balance and Trunk Length, Pelvic Tilt and Kypotic Angle for both feet.
In conclusion, the association of both elements suggest that an appropriate training program should be considered starting at a young age to prevent injuries, maintain the correct posture of the body and reduce the interference of the athletes performance.
