This study was conducted to compare the external morphologial characters, of seven species of the family Pleuroceridae in Korea. All of the samples for this study was collected from may 1999 to september 2005 at 78 localities in Korea. In the consequence of linear regression analyses by external morphologial characters measurement of 19 species, 19 regressive formulae could be set up. All of the regressive formulae represented with rectilinear relationship, and as below, external morphologial characters devided into 3 types. The genus of Semisulcospira has a elongate conic type (the ratio of body whorl height to shell height〓0.577~0.686). Otherwise the genus of Koreanomelania has a oval conic type (the ratio of body whorl height to shell height〓0.769~0.790) and the genus of Koreoleptoxis has a depressed globus conic typ (the ratio of body whorl height to shell height〓0.826). Principal component analysis of 19 species can divided into eight groups based on the morphological characters and the result of cluster analysis was in accord with the principle analysis. According to cluster analysis, all of the 19 species get together into one group (D; distance index〓1.2665) and 3 genera of Semisulcospira, Koreanomelania and Koreoleptoxis can be divided into three groups (above D〓0.8754). The morphological distance index between L-1 and L-2 (D〓0.2534) proved to be lowest, therefore they were more similar than the other interspecies. On the other hand, the degree of distance index between N-1 and N-2 (D〓0.6347) proved to be highest. and carried out additional isozyme analysis. Because 19 species were divided into 19 types by defined extend of distance index (D〓0.2534~0.6347), it could be decided provisionally that 19 species were 7 Holotypes and 9 var. species as against Holotype in each groups, exception of 3 species (G-4, SP-1, SP-2). But as distance index (D〓0.4773) between G-3 and 2 types (G-1, G-2) had gone beyond classified grade of species (D〓 0.4600; 46 phenon), it might be the level of speciation or subspecies as against G-1. Afterwards, there is need for G-3 to be executed additional studies for classification.
