The purpose of this study is to interrelate between inhabitation of Semisulcospira and water quality in the Seomjin river. We investigated the characteristics of water quality, Semisulcospira population status and correlation analysis at 22 sites from October 17, 2018 to October 19, 2018. The four species of Semisulcospira forticosta, Semisulcospira libertina, Semisulcospira coreana and Semisulcospira tegulata were present in the Seomjin river. The predominant species of sampling site were Semisulcospira coreana of 15 pieces/m2 at St. 16, Semisulcospira forticosta of 16 pieces/m2 at St 17. The population was 6 pieces/m2 at upper, 2 pieces/m2 at middle, and 12 pieces/m2 at lower, respectively. The frequency of emergence showed 51% and 45% of the Semisulcospira coreana in the upper and middle regions. The lower regions showed 44% of Semisulcospira coreana and 35% of Semisulcospira forticosta. The organic concentration(BOD) was found to be very low at 0.90 mg/L. As a result of evaluation of water quality standard of Sumjin river was surveyed as ‘Ⅰa’ grade. The Pearson's correlation coefficient between Semisulcospira and investigating item was analyzed based on surveying items and water quality. It was found that the velocity was high and the SS concentration was low at the sampling point where the riverbed was formed on the boulder. In this case, It is estimated that the number of Semisulcospira population relatively appeared to be high compared to other sampling points where algae growth of the attached materials were present.
