This study is aimed to examine whether university students’ department satisfaction, job search behavior, and employment-preparation behavior vary with their demographic characteristics and to verify the effects of their department satisfaction on their job search behavior and employment-preparation behavior. The data was collected from students located in Gwangju metropolitan city using self-administered questionnaire surveys, and data from a total of 260 students were used in the actual analyses. The results are as follows. First, in the examination of differences in department satisfaction, job search behavior, and employment-preparation behavior in relation to demographic characteristics, all sub-factors of department satisfaction and job search behavior showed a significant difference according to gender; specifically, male students expressed higher satisfaction than female students. Job search behavior and employment-preparation behavior showed significant differences according to grades and departments. Second, the effects of university students’ department satisfaction on their job search behavior and employment-preparation behavior were examined. Based on the results, overall satisfaction and satisfaction with curriculum had significant effects on both job search behavior and employment-preparation behavior, and satisfaction with relationships with professors had significant effects on employment-preparation behavior. This study verified that university students’ department satisfaction, job search behavior, and employment-preparation behavior varied with their demographic characteristics and that the students’ overall satisfaction with departments and satisfaction with curriculum had effects on their job search behavior and employment-preparation behavior.
